    BURRTON — The Burrton Charger girls fell to Pratt Skyline 54-29 Friday in Heart of the Plains League play in Pratt. Burrton trailed 11-2 after the first quarter and 25-7 at the half. Alyssa Swonger scored 10 points for Skyline, 8-6. Abbie Winter scored nine points for Burrton. The Chargers are 3-12 and host Fairfield at 6 p.m. today.

    GOESSEL — The Goessel High School girls’ basketball team edged Wheat State League rival Centre 50-48 Friday in overtime. Tied 19-19 at the half, Goessel led 35-28 after three quarters. Jessica Harvey scored 13 points for Goessel, followed by Alex Hiebert with 10. Shelby Makovec scored 14 points for Centre, 12-5, followed by Makenzie Deines with 12. Goessel is 7-8 and plays today at White City.

    BURRTON — Trae Lane scored 28 points to lead the Burrton Chargers to a 68-32 Heart of the Plains League win over the Pratt Skyline Thunderbirds Friday in Burrton. The Chargers led 39-11 at the half. Nathan Harper added 12 points for Burrton, 4-11. Collin Leonard scored 10 points. Skyline was led by Brandon Abbott with 16 points. Burrton hosts rival Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. today.

Solomon, 12-3, was led by Jordan Rangel with 19 points, Mason Demars with 16 points and Blake Homman with 13 points. Peabody-Burns was led by Austin Savage with 18 points and Christian Gard with 13 points. Gard added 13 rebounds. Peabody-Burns is 8-7 and plays today at home against Remington.

Remington led 17-15 at the half, but trailed 31-26 after three quarters. Remington hit nine of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter. Sedgwick missed both of its attempts from the line in the final period. Paul Janzen added 11 points for Remington. Logan Thompson scored 12 points for Sedgwick. Chris Agee added 11 points. Remington is 9-6 and plays at 7:30 p.m. today at Peabody-Burns. Sedgwick falls to 8-7 and plays today at Hutchinson Trinity.

    BUHLER — The Newton High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team finished a slate of games 1-2. Friday at Salina, Newton fell to Salina Central 29-23. Saturday at the Buhler Invitational, Newton lost to Hutchinson 49-27 and beat Haven 46-45 in overtime. Newton plays at 7:30 p.m. today at home against Salina South.
