  • Ratzlaff leads Moundridge over Goessel

  • MOUNDRIDGE — Daniel Ratzlaff scored 27 points to lead the Moundridge Wildcat boys to a 70-35 win over Goessel Friday in non-league play in Goessel. The Wildcats took the lead early, leading 21-9 after the first quarter and 39-18 at the half. Goessel was held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Tyler Kauman scored 13 points for Moundridge. Davis Cook scored 17 points for Goessel, followed by Nic Buller with 10. Moundridge is 9-4 and hosts Berean Academy Tuesday in a key Heart of America League game. Goessel falls to 7-6 and plays Tuesday at Little River in Wheat State League play.

    Newton boys fall to Valley
    VALLEY CENTER — The Newton High School boys’ basketball team fell to Valley Center 57-44 Friday night in non-league play in Valley Center. Scoring details were not available at press time. Valley Center improves to 3-8, snapping a five-game losing streak. Newton falls to 4-8 and hosts Maize at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
