ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Newton High School graduate Kate Lehman set the career record for blocked shots at Fort Hays State University Thursday in a 75-63 win over Lindenwood University in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play in St. Charles. Lehman, a sophomore post at Fort Hays State, had eight blocked shots in the game and has 167 in her career. She passes Ashlee Gustin for the Tigers’ career record. Lehman added 17 points and seven rebounds in the game. For the season, Lehman is averaging 15.9 points and 9.1 rebounds. She has 71 blocked shots this season. At Newton, she holds the career, season and single game records for shot blocking. She is one of the all-time leading shot blockers in the state. Entering the week, Lehman leads the nation in NCAA Division II in blocked shots per game at 4.2. Fort Hays State is 12-4, 4-4 in MIAA play. The Tigers received points in the NCAA Division II top 25.
