  • SEDGWICK — The Remington Bronco girls’ basketball team made an early run against the Wichita Independent Panthers, then held on for a 51-43 win Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the 34th Sedgwick Invitational. The Broncos, 6-4, advance to the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Hutchinson Trinity. Independent, 2-9, face Belle Plaine at 7:30 p.m. in the old gym in the consolation semifinals. Remington fell behind 4-1 early, but came back with a 10-0 run. Trailing 16-6, Independent got back within six points at the end of the quarter, 21-15. Remington led 34-27 at the half and 42-33 after three quarters. Independent cut the lead to six with 32 seconds remaining, but the Broncos were able to hold on for the win. Kylee Schunn and Kristyn Wedel each scored 17 points for Remington. Alice Coccetella scored 16 points for Independent.
