Ruth (Ileen) Woolery Overstreet died at Asbury Park on Dec. 30, 2012.
Ileen was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Galesburg. She was the third of six children born to Ira and Hazel (Willis) Woolery. Ileen lived in Newton most of her life, graduating from Newton High School in 1937 and working for Woolworths before becoming a homemaker.
Ileen married James C. Overstreet on Nov. 19, 1939. They had four children. Jim died on Nov. 29, 1988.
Ileen was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Iris Carol; her parents; brother, Robert (Phil) Woolery; sister, Ethel Woolery; and brother, Lorin (Baldy) Woolery.
Ileen is survived by her daughter, Lorinda (Overstreet) Schreiber and husband, Jack of Newton; son, Michael Overstreet and wife, Jody of Show Low, Ariz.; daughter, Peggy (Overstreet) Sharer of Erlanger, Ky.; brothers, Bill and wife, Jan Woolery, and Jack and wife, Ruth Woolery of Wichita; sister-in-law, Irene Woolery of Wichita; five grandchildren, Jim Schreiber and wife, Melissa of Newton, Sydney Sharer of Erlanger, Ky., Jackie (Schreiber) Krehbiel and husband, Russ of Hesston, Iris Overstreet-Strupp and husband, Chris of Chicago, and Jake Overstreet of Las Vegas; two great-granddaughters, Keegan Schreiber and Avery Krehbiel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Nancy Crowl will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m.
