HESSTON — James R. Perkins was named the recipient of the Regional Journey Award from the Everence offices in central Kansas.This award recognizes that Perkins, of Howard, has inspired many others with his example of faith-driven stewardship; created in 2001, the Journey Award highlights what people of faith are doing as stewards of their God-given gifts, a news release stated.The award was presented Nov. 16 at the Wichita Friends School annual Thanksgiving banquet. Wichita Friends School is an independent pre-K through sixth grade school which offers individualized curriculum with collaborative, hands-on learning in a community setting, where Quaker values are nurtured. Incorporated in 1988, Wichita Friends School is a member of the Friends Council on Education and Kansas Association of Independent and Religious Schools.
