GOESSEL -- Elva Quiring, 94, passed away December 19, 2012, at Bethesda Home in Goessel, KS.
She was born February 23, 1918, in Henderson, NE, the daughter of Henry J. and Anna Janzen Ratzlaff. She worked as a school teacher.
On September 1, 1949, she married Sam E. Quiring in Henderson, NE. He passed away on March 15, 2008.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, MN, where she was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Elva also was a founding member, and sat on the Board for the Minn-Kota MCC Relief Sale.
She is survived by son, Dennis (Annette) of Newton, daughters, Grace (Harlan) Bartel of North Newton, Clarice (Bob) Hostetler of Dodge City, sisters Alvina (LG) DaVolt of Henderson, NE, Leanna (Levi) Peters of Henderson, NE, Violet Ratzlaff of Henderson, NE, sister-in-laws, Jeanne Ratzlaff, Adeline Friesen, Geneva (Waldo) Stoesz, grandchildren, Elissa Miracle, Gretchen Bookout, Karl Quiring, Anna Quiring, Konrad Quiring, Sierra Skinner, Mariah Hostetler, Bryce Hostetler, and great-grandchildren, Easton Miracle, and Irelyn Bookout.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Malita Friesen, Zella Huebert, Elfrieda Ratzlaff, brothers, Lee and Marvin Ratzlaff, brother-in-laws, Harry Friesen, Arley Huebert, Cornelius Friesen, Dave Toews, and sister-in-laws, Edna Ratzlaff, and Frieda Toews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. Burial will follow the service at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.
