Norma J. McMurray, 79, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born May 26, 1933, in Walnut to Orin Alvin and Etta Louise (Burger) Baugh. On Jan. 22, 1955, Norma married Norman D. McMurray in Walnut. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2009.
She retired as an RN from the Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.
Norma enjoyed spending time cross stitching and completing puzzles. She also enjoyed painting. Norma found great joy in watching and feeding the birds around her farm. Her family was important to her, and she looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie and Steve Marts of Topeka; sons, David and Darlene McMurray of McPherson, Richard and Cindi McMurray of Wichita, Jeff and Roxanne McMurray of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Glen and Janet McMurray of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Carlos and Niva Romero of Tucumcari, N.M.; brother, Howard and Roberta Baugh of Fredonia; sisters, Betty Ann and Donald Coester of Chanute, and Virginia and John Myers of Krum, Texas.
Norma also is survived by 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Sharon Romero; and one brother.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will be in the Canton Township Cemetery, rural Canton.
