  • HESSTON — The Hesston College women’s basketball team fell to top-ranked (NJCAA Division II) Johnson County Community College 83-48 Wednesday night in Region VI play at Yost Center. The Larks trailed 37-19 at the half. Hesston hit just seven of 26 from the field in the first half, 17 of 52 for the game. Johnson County was 33 of 70 shooting, 19 of 35 in the second half. Johnson County, 7-0 overall and 2-0 in Region VI play, was led by Kathleen Brisbane with 18 points, followed by Kariel Hutt with 16, Timeka O’Neal with 15 and Hesston High grad Samantha Short with 15. Juanita Robinson had 13 rebounds. Sedgwick grad Jami Douvier scored two points with four rebounds. Hesston, 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the region, was led by Destiva Davis with 11 points.
