  • BUHLER — Eldon L. Jost, 87, of Buhler, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 20, 2012, at the Buhler Sunshine Home, Buhler.He was born the fourth of five children to Frank R. and Marie (Loewen) Jost of rural Hillsboro, on March 6, 1925. He married Luella L. Schroeder of Buhler on July 17, 1947.Upon marriage and moving to Buhler, in 1952, Eldon and Simon Wiens began Jost & Wiens Construction Co., which was known for several prominent buildings, and many houses in the area. In 1987, he formed E.L. Jost Construction.Eldon was a loving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed his family, work and church and community service. He served on the Buhler USD 313 school board from 1967–1987 with 12 years as president; as well as the Hutchinson Hospital board, the Hutchinson Home Builders Association, and numerous church and community boards and organizations.Eldon and Luella celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in July with family and friends.He is survived by his wife, Luella of Buhler; children, Randy and Debbie Jost of Ottawa, and Roger and G.B. Jost of Newton; a brother, Victor and his wife, Myrna Jost of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Mitchell and Nikki Jost of Tulsa, Okla., Claire Jost of Wichita, Aaron Jost of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Andrew Jost of Salina; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives, friends and loved ones. Eldon’s mother, father and three siblings preceded him in passing.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church, Buhler, with Pastors Nick Rempel and Brent Warkentin. Burial will follow at Buhler East Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Buhler Mortuary, Buhler.Memorials may be sent to Buhler Sunshine Home, Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church or Tabor College, in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 N. Main, Buhler, KS 67522.
