  • KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Hesston College women’s basketball team overcome an 11-point halftime deficit to down Kansas City, Kan., Community College 52-44 Thursday in NJCAA Division II, Region VI play. Hesston trailed 29-18 at the half, but outscored Kansas City 34-15 in the second half. Both teams struggled from the field and the line. Hesston was 19 of 58 shooting, 0 of 12 from 3-point range and 14 of 26 from the line. Kansas City was 16 of 54 shooting, three of 22 from 3-point range and nine of 23 from the line. Hesston was outrebounded 40-28. KCK had 32 turnovers. Destiva Davis led Hesston with 16 points, followed by Rachel Miller with 12, Nikki Lowry with 11 and Makayla Ladwig with 11. Davis had eight steals. Samantha Hurst led KCK with 10 points. Kansas City falls to 3-2, 0-1 in Region VI play. Hesston is 5-2, 2-0 in Region VI play.
