  •  In a game where there were 11 ties and 16 lead changes, McPherson College held off William Penn 73-70 Friday night in the opening game of the Bethel Classic. McPherson, 2-3, led 30-27 at the half. The Bulldogs trailed by five to start the first overtime. Ali Brewster led McPherson with 16 points, hitting 10 of 13 from the line, followed by Brittany Pittas with 14, Madison Chambers with 12 and Cami Engelbert with 10. Chambers had 12 rebounds. William Penn, 2-4, was led by Orielle Thomas with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Makenzie Ficek added 15 points. William Penn was hampered by eight of 19 from the free throw line. McPherson was 21 of 27 from the line.
