  • Concert to benefit local homeless shelter

  • Local Christian music DJ Ron Corino is organizing a benefit concert Nov. 17 to raise funds for the Harvey County Homeless Shelter. Corino hosts a contemporary Christian radio show Saturday nights on KBCU-88.1 FM, Bethel College’s radio station. The concert will feature some of the artists who’ve appeared on Corino’s show, which features both well-known and indie performers.Meet the artists1) James Conner from Newton has a pop/acoustic style, similar to John Mayer. 2) Shine Like Stars is a contemporary praise and worship band from Wichita. 3) A band called therest is a Kansas City-based group with an acoustic style. 4) Robin Lees is from Texas and sings Christian folk-rock music.If you go When: The benefit concert will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17. Corino said people can stay for the full four hours of the concert or simply stay for a portion. Where: Mojo’s on the Bethel College campus in North Newton. Cost: Admission to the concert is free, but donations will be accepted for the homeless shelter. Corino said the artists have volunteered to perform at the concert free of charge so all the money raised can go to the homeless shelter.
