  • Bowling dual now a triangularThe Newton High School bowling meet Jan. 18 at West Acres Bowl with Goddard Eisenhower is not a triangular with Cheney. The meet will start at 3:30 p.m. The Newton High School junior varsity track meet scheduled for March 28 at Wichita Northwest, has been moved to April 4.Salt City Bowl setHUTCHINSON — Hutchinson Community College and Iowa Central Community College will meet in the fourth annual Salt City Bowl at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson. Hutchinson Community College is 8-3 and ranked 14th in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll. The Blue Dragons finished second in the Jayhawk Conference and second in the NJCAA Region VI playoffs. Butler won both the Jayhawk Conference and the Region VI playoffs. Butler will play Iowa Western in the Graphic’s Edge Bowl for the national championship. Iowa Central is 6-4 and a member of the Midwest Football Conference.CHL to team up with SAGLENDALE, Ariz. — The Central Hockey League, of which the Wichita Thunder is a member, will team up with the Salvation Army to raise funds for relief of those affected by Hurricane Sandy. “The Central Hockey League is proud to partner with the Salvation Army in their relief efforts for the many people and communities affected by Sandy,” said Duane Lewis, CHL Commissioner. “When you read what people have been, and are going through, and watch the stories of the lives affected by this storm, we wanted to be able to assist in this process however we could, across the CHL family.” More information is available at www.centralhockeyleague.com. • The CHL and the Professional Hockey Players Association have reached an agreement for a new collective bargaining agreement. “We are pleased to move forward with this Agreement with the PHPA, and thank the CHL Owners for their hard work, vision and patience during this process,” said Lewis. “I would also like to thank the Players for their efforts in reaching this agreement. Our season is already underway and CHL fans are enjoying the highest level of professional hockey the CHL has experienced. We look forward to the remainder of the 2012-13 season.” The league’s salary cap, salary floor and minimum salary remains the same. Alterations were made in the league’s injured reserve system and Christmas break. Other provisions include a counseling service for the players, a career enhancement program for player education and off-ice health insurance for players and their families. • Wichita went 2-1 last weekend. Wichita split a pair of games against Rapid City, winning the first game 6-2 and losing the second game 4-0. Sunday, Wichita downed Texas 6-2. Wichita hosts Quad City at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Arizona at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
