Roberta Lewis Dare, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Avner Dare, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in the Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Hwy, James Island. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in J. Henry Stuhr North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, N. Charleston, S.C. Roberta was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Long Island, New York, daughter of Myrl Lewis and Isabel DeShon Lewis. She was a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. She was a nurse with the Navy Nursing Corp in World War II. Roberta retired as a nurse with the College of Charleston. She is survived by her son, Dwight Dare of Lawrence; daughter, Melinda Hamilton of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren, Wesley Rhodes and Tashia Dare; and two great-grandchildren.
