Carl was born on May 25, 1935, to Cecil and Nora Barden in Fairfax, Okla. Carl was the eldest of five children. He had three sisters, Carol, Delores and Lucinda, and one brother, Robert. He married Betty Eaton. To this union were born two children: daughter, Karen (Susie) of Newton, and son, Steve of Newton.

He was born April 14, 1933, in Portland, Ore., the son of Mary Lais. He married Thelma Brenneman on June 4, 1954, in Hesston. She survives.

Larry worked as a shop manager for Kropf Lumber for 22 years, then as a machinist for Hesston Corporation for 17 years. He was also a master wood craftsman.

The family moved to a farm in the Whitewater area, and Henry graduated from Whitewater High School. Henry married Laura Balzer on July 2, 1944, in rural Whitewater.
