  • Today Celebrate Recovery Newton is a Christ-centered and Biblically-based recovery from any hurts, habits and hang-ups. There is no cost for the program. The group meets every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at RiverPoint Church. Hard Rock Cafe at 6:30 p.m. Nursery and children’s programs are available.Nov. 2 The Walton Senior Citizens will meet Nov. 2 at the Whistle Stop Cafe at 11:30 a.m. for the meal. Jim Wimmer of Newton will give the program.Nov. 3 The Creative Writers Fellowship will meet on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. at Peace Connections, 612 N. Main in Newton. Clarice Voth, a group member, will present her journal writings, “6 Days of Anguish,” about her sister’s sudden death. Rachel Poling will lead a discussion about writing and grief. All writers and those interested in writing are welcome.Nov. 11 At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, the Wichita Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will sponsor a “Fall Hymn Festival,” to be held in the Chapel at Wichita’s Convent of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, 1165 Southwest Boulevard (just south of Newman University off K-42). The program is offered free of charge, in cooperation with the ASC Chapel Choir, Troy Skinner, director. Music will include festival hymns for the entire assembly, anthems by a choir of volunteers from the AGO and the Wichita community, and a variety of selections for organ and instruments. Solo, ensemble and assembly pieces featured will be compositions of Bach, Vivaldi, Franck, Holst and Vaughan Williams, among others. A reception will follow the hour-long program, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
