Meals on Wheels The following is the Meals on Wheels menu for Sunday, Oct. 28, through Saturday, Nov. 3. Items for people with diabetes are listed in parentheses. Sunday — Baked chicken, mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, scalloped apples, roll, pineapple, ice cream (sugar-free ice cream), milk. Monday — Scalloped turkey, chicken gravy, broccoli, peaches, roll, jelly, milk. Tuesday — Meat loaf, baked potato, green beans, fruit cocktail, roll, milk. Wednesday — Roast turkey, mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, dressing, tropical fruit, roll. Thursday — Barbecue beef on bun, tater tots, cooked cabbage, plums, milk. Friday — Tuna tetrazzini, sweet potatoes, bananas and mandarin oranges, roll, jelly, milk. Saturday — Sweet and sour meatballs, Italian vegetables, brown rice, applesauce, roll, milk. Those interested in receiving meals should call 283-3500. The meals are prepared by Newton Medical Center and are delivered by volunteers seven days a week, including holidays. Sixth St. will be:Oct. 29 — Southwest chicken with pasta, capri vegetables, apricot mix, vanilla pudding, dinner roll.Oct. 30 — Beef patty with onion gravy, mashed potatoes, spinach salad with dressing, pineapplesauce, whole wheat bread.Oct. 31 — Chicken tortilla soup, fiesta cucumber corn salad, fresh orange, tapioca pudding.Nov. 1 — Apple walnut turkey, salad on wheat bread, loose leaf salad with dressing, peach cup, oatmeal cookies.Nov. 2 — Scalloped potatoes with ham, ranch broccoli salad, citrus fruit mix, cornbread.The meals are served at 11:45 a.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.Contributions are encouraged. The suggested contribution for a meal for those age 60 and older is $2. However, no person will be denied a meal due to an inability to pay. (The meal for each day’s volunteers is provided.) Reservations must be made with the site manager or the Senior Center director at 283-2222 three weekdays before the meal.
