Scary Larry, his Ghoulish Creatures and Denise’s Little Demons present a local haunted house called “Hollow House.” Those who are brave enough to take the challenge should arrive at Purgatory (329 E. Main in Marion) between 7 and 11 p.m. Friday (Oct. 26). While you wait your turn at terror, you can purchase goodies to feast on, have your face painted and let your imagination run rampant in a warm, terror-free zone. Visitors will then board a ride to “Hollow House.” According to legend, “Hollow” are a race of creatures which are born from human souls who, for various reasons, do not cross over after their death and stay in the human world for too long. They are corrupt spirits with supernatural powers that devour the souls of both living and deceased humans. Those who arrive at the event before 8:30 p.m. will be admitted for $4, and those who are brave enough to come after 8:30 p.m. will pay $5 and be treated to the maximum terror. The earlier shift is recommended for younger visitors and families. All funds raised will go to the Community Christmas Fund, which provides food and gifts to the families of children who would not otherwise be able to have them. Last year the event raised about $900 in one night for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
