  • Allwin J. “Al” Kasitz turned 90 on Oct. 18, 2012. Born and raised in the rural Walton area, he graduated from Newton High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He then married Marjorie Dreier, and they established a farm east of Hesston. In 1960, Al became an American Breeders Service technician, a position he held for 28 years servicing dairy and beef herds in several surrounding counties. Seven years ago, Al moved near Sedgwick to live on his daughter’s farm. Al’s three daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Hubbard, Deb (CG) McGinn, Betty (Ed) Smith and their families invite the community to a birthday reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 21) at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ. The church is located near the intersection of Highway 15 and Dutch Ave., four miles east of Hesston. No gifts, please.
