  •  Thank you to Newton’s Historic Fox Theater and underwriter, Roofing Services Unlimited, for an excellent concert! Perhaps you haven’t heard of Karen Waldrup and Ashlee K Thomas – but you will. This talented, versatile vocal duo performed with mutual delight for an appreciative audience to top off Taste of Newton. I’m grateful I was there to enjoy the evening. If you weren’t, you missed a great show!Waldrup & Thomas’ Autumn Sky Tour is a promising opening. A variety of performers are coming to the Fox this fall for the “Under Construction Concert Series.” In one of her original songs, Waldrup asserts that, whatever may be in the past, we can declare our new beginning. What a fitting description for this series and the efforts of the newly reorganized board of our downtown theater! I see many signs of this dedicated group bringing together the pieces to develop a credible entertainment destination. They are respectfully building on the past with eyes on the future.Let’s show up and become a part of this renewal movement. There is something on the list that you will enjoy. And, the Fox wants to know who else you’d like to see and hear. There are many ways to be involved. Volunteer, donate, participate and patronize. Choose the ways that suit you. The Fox can be a keystone asset to our city more quickly, as we choose to help it happen. The new volunteer board is making important next steps. Now is the time for us to add our acts and words of encouragement.— Steve Richards, Newton
