Harold G. Brown, 66, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the Robert J. Dole V.A. Hospital in Wichita. He was born July 31, 1946, in Lyons to John and Mary (Deaton) Brown. He was a graduate of Lyons High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He married Cindy Wright in 1971, and she survives of the home. Harold was a truck driver, retiring after 42 years. He was known for being selfless and putting others first. He enjoyed taking care of others and fixing cars. Harold’s grandsons were very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time with them and his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Cindy of the home; daughters, Michelle Mosiman of Newton and Heather Brown of Manhattan; son, Chad Brown of Wichita; brothers, Kenneth and Everett Brown of Lyons, Melvin Brown of Hutchinson, and Howard and Veryl Brown of Mt. Grove, Mo.; sister, Jean Welch and Debbie Gonzales, both of Lyons; and two grandsons, Austin and Dakota Easterberg, both of Newton. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dearl, Charlie and George Brown; and sisters, Norma Mae Hurley and Katherine Williams. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Oct. 8, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Bell presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Austin and Dakota Easterberg Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
