  • $111,550WHAT IT IS: Total grant amount received by the Harvey County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force and Prairie View, from the Kansas Housing Resources Corp. Jan Jones, executive director of the Harvey County Safe House, announced the grant award at the Monday Harvey County Commission meeting.BREAKDOWN: The grant includes funds for these programs:?- $45,213 for an emergency shelter?- $60,000 for rapid re-housing (a transitional housing project)?- $3,368 for the HMIS database?- $2,969 for administrationABOUT THE GRANT: The Kansas Housing Resources Corp. is a self-supporting public corporation which serves as the primary administrator of federal housing programs for the state of Kansas. They seek to increase the availability of affordable and accessible housing for lower-income Kansans. KHRC collaborates with partners across the state, including developers, builders, real estate agents, service providers, homeless advocates, non-profit organizations and government agencies.?While Jan Jones said the grant amount was $50,000 less than requested, she had been anticipating a cut. She said the Safe House is experiencing an increase in the need for services, and she thanked the commission for their support of the program.?“We feel very fortunate,” Jones said. “... We thank you for supporting this project.”
