  •  Dear Newton CROP Hunger Walk Committee, community churches and participants,On behalf of the Harvey County Safe House, I would like to thank you for your hard work and financial support received for the recent CROP Hunger Walk. CROP is Communities Responding to Over Come Poverty — through this communities' generous support, many families in need are helped!Funds from CROP Walk are crucial to provide necessary food for families we serve through the Safe House. During this last year, the Safe House provided face-to-face, unduplicated services to over 785 victims in Harvey County through individual advocacy, shelter, support group, direct aid and the crisis line. The Safe House is out of room at the shelter, it is a "Safe Haven" for victims and their children seeking shelter, experiencing a 64 percent increase in families staying at the crisis shelter in the last year. The families that come through the Safe House have survived abuse that is often hard to comprehend. Many times, they have had to leave all of their belongings behind and start over with nothing. Knowing that people in this community want to help, gives them hope. Thank you again for making a difference!"We walk with them; we walk for them"Jan Jones, Executive Director, Harvey County Safe House
