Roland R. Decker, 95, died on Sunday (Sept. 30, 2012) at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton.?He was born on Sept. 7, 1917, in McPherson County to Ludwig and Mary (Wedel) Decker. He was a graduate of Moundridge High School. On Sept. 3, 1939, he married Hulda Jantz in Tampa, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2000.?Roland was a long-time member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. He worked in the mobile home manufacturing plants in Newton and was a retired farmer. Roland enjoyed woodworking and collecting woodworking tools. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends, and he was appreciative of the care he received from the staff of Kidron Bethel.?Roland is survived by two sons, Jerry and his wife, Delora of North Newton, and Ron and his wife, Marilyn of Newton; one daughter, Teresa and her husband, Kevin Brennan of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Erma Juhnke of Newton; two grandchildren, Denetta Denno, and Gail and her husband, Terry Pryce of North Newton; and four great-grandchildren.?He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Clayton Decker; and one sister, Sadie Jantz.?A graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Pastor Anita Kehr and Chaplain Debbie Schmidt presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home of Newton.?Memorials are suggested to First Mennonite Church or Kidron Bethel, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
