  • Although construction hasn’t yet begun on buildings out at the Kansas Logistics Park, the park already has provided a boost to local businesses. According to data provided by Suzanne Loomis, city engineer/director of public works, at least $8 million has been spent on infrastructure at the park (includes city, county and federal funds). Several local businesses throughout Harvey County have served as vendors, contractors or subcontractors on many of the major infrastructure projects. “I’m always tickled when we have local contractors that are able to be part of the work, anywhere in the city,” Loomis said. “... We’ve got some real quality contractors in the area. That’s definitely a benefit to the city and the county.” The following is a list of the KLP projects, and county businesses that have participated.I-35 Sewer (Built to serve a large area of property, including the KLP) Total project cost: $2.26 million Vendors and subcontractors: - Builders Concrete and Supply, NewtonKLP Streets (Phase 1) Total project cost: $3.45 million Vendors and subcontractors: - Builders Concrete and Supply, Newton - Unruh Excavating, MoundridgeKLP Streets (Southeast Ninth) Total project cost: $890,813 Contractor: Vogts-Parga Construction, North Newton Vendors and subcontractors: - Hwa Davis, Newton - Unruh Excavating, Moundridge - Superior Erosion Control, Hesston - Builders Concrete and Supply, Newton - Kropf Lumber, HesstonHillside Water Total project cost: $331,437 Vendors and subcontractors: - Builders Concrete and Supply, NewtonHillside Sewer Total project cost: $117,193 Vendors and subcontractors: - Builders Concrete and Supply, NewtonSoutheast Booster Station (Built to serve the KLP, the airport and the surrounding area) Total project cost: $697,550 Vendors and subcontractors: - Builders Concrete and Supply, NewtonHauck Drainage Ponds Total project cost: $283,534 Contractor: Unruh Excavating, Moundridge Vendors and subcontractors: - Superior Erosion Control, HesstonNote: Out-of-county subcontractors also participated in these projects.
