  • Peabody-Burns 62, Centre 28PEABODY — The Peabody-Burns Warriors downed cross-county rival Centre 62-28 Friday in Wheat State League and Eight-Man Division I district play. Peabody-Burns quarterback Hunter Pickens rushed for 130 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns. Pickens also hit seven of 18 passes for 113 yards with an interception. Austin Savage rushed for 120 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns. Kaden Gibson and Braxton Kyle each added a rushing touchdown. Tommy Morrison had a receiving touchdown. On defense, Pickens had seven total tackles, which led the team. Jayden Miller had 3.0 quarterback sacks. Kyle had an interception. Peabody-Burns led 30-28 at the half, but scored 26 third quarter points, and shut the Cougars out in the second half. Centre falls to 2-3, 1-2 in WSL play and 1-2 in district play. Peabody-Burns is 4-1, 2-1 in league play and 2-0 in district play. The Warriors play Friday at Hartford. Sedgwick’s Logan Thompson rushed for 213 yards on 22 carries with three touchdowns. Thompson passed for 62 yards and had two catches for 43 yards. Dalton Brandt added 101 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown. Brylie Ware rushed for 99 yards on nine carries with a touchdown, and passed for 47 yards. On defense for Sedgwick, Nic Johnson had an interception. Lane Foster and Cameron Fields each recovered a fumble. For Trinity, Elias Jasso-Cardenas had 16 carries for 100 yards. The Celtics scored on a 63-yard pass from Mingy Shin to Chris Christenson and a 65-yard fumble return for Nathan Eisenbarth. Sedgwick is 4-1, 3-0 in HOAL play. Trinity falls to 3-2, 3-1 in HOAL play.
