Wilma Waltner Comstock, 92, died on Thursday (Sept. 20, 2012) at Asbury Park in Newton. She was born on Nov. 7, 1919, in Elyria to Joseph and Regina (Vogt) Waltner. She was married to Ervin Comstock, and he preceded her in death. Wilma was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a 1938 graduate of Moundridge High School and graduated in 1946 from The Axtell Christian Hospital School of Nursing. Wilma worked as a registered nurse at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita Clinic and others. She also worked in several nursing homes prior to her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading books. Wilma is survived by her brother, Merle Waltner of Thornton, Colo.; nephews, Gordon and Nina Stucky of Derby, and Douglas Waltner of Newton; nieces, Luella Ramsey of Hutchinson, Shari and Darrell Sattler of Newton, Eldeen and Ralph Baker of Topeka, Merlene Waltner of Wichita, Kathy and Martin Coon of Thornton, Colo., and Paula and Roger of Rice of Desert Hot Springs, Calif. She has numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a chosen son, Tom and Peggy Friesen of Paris, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Selma Stucky and Bertha Voth. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Sept. 24, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 23, 2012), with the family receiving friends from 1 to 3 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton. Memorials are suggested to Asbury Park or First United Methodist Church, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
