PEABODY — The Halstead High School boys’ cross country team placed fourth out of eight teams Thursday at the Peabody-Burns Invitational. Halstead claimed four medals in varsity competition. “Overall, I felt the runners ran well and competed hard,” Halstead coach Curtis Vermillion said. “I was pleased with the attitude the runners used to deal with the weather conditions. I thought we made progress this past week, and got better. It’s hard to believe but we are nearly at the half way point in the season. All we ask is to challenge ourselves and continue to improve each day. We are still very concerned about the injuries and sickness hitting our teams. It would be incredible if someday soon we could get everyone healthy and everyone could run.” For the Halstead girls, Meg Talbott placed 13th in 18:03.39. For the Halstead boys, Adan Andrade was 12th in 18:42.87. Cody Reinert was 15th in 19:13.03 and Matthew Rodenberg was 17th in 19:18.82. Halstead competes today at the Southeast of Saline Invitational in Gypsum.
