Audrey E. Wonders, 83, died on Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) at Newton Medical Center following a brief illness.?She was born on March 3, 1929, in Wichita to Otto and Helen (Moran)?Adrian. On Nov. 9, 1947, she married Vernon Wonders, and he survives of the home.?Audrey was a member of Meridian Baptist Church in Newton. She worked at Hesston Corp. prior to her retirement. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Newton Eagles Lodge. Audrey enjoyed bowling, bingo and camping.?She also enjoyed knitting and making baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and family were very important to Audrey, and she greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family and friends.?Audrey is survived by her husband, Vernon of the home; sons, Ron and his wife, Mary Wonders, and Gary and his wife, Beth Wonders, both of Newton; daughters, Karen Wonders and Marilyn Luckey, both of Newton, and Velma and her husband, Clyde Derringer of Warsaw, Mo.; brother, Carl and his wife, Sharon Adrian of Salina; sister, Carol Tisdale of McAllen, Texas; and grandchildren, Ed and his wife, Vicky Wonders, Vernon Wonders, Brian and Missy Wonders, Jeff Wonders, Gwen Nye, Alisa and Jorge Martin, Valorie and Gary Porter, and Jennifer and Brian Smith. She also is survived by 12 great-grandchildren.?She was preceded in death by her parents.?Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 8, 2012) at Meridian Baptist Church, with Pastor Scott Kliewer presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.?Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
