James A. (Jim) Goddard, son of Otto O. and Irene (Poland) Goddard was born May 21, 1945, in Marion. He passed from his earthly life on Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) at the age of 67 in the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit in Wichita.?He married Belita A. Winchester on Nov. 15, 1964, in Maize.?Jim was a retired police officer for the city of Peabody.?He is survived by his wife, Belita; daughter, Robin Stukey and her husband, Gregg; son, Steve Goddard and his wife, Nancy, all of Newton; former son-in-law, Steve Clements of Wichita; grandchildren, Dylan Clements, Garrett Goddard and Sydney Goddard, all of Newton; stepgrandchildren, Kayla Stukey of Newton and Nichole Stukey of Marion; and sisters, Ellen Hein and Shirley Williams, both of Roseburg, Ore. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.?Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Phillip Goddard; and sisters, Mary Steele and Marjorie Branson.?A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton, with Pastor Larry Sadowski presiding. Cremation has taken place, and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date.?Memorials are suggested to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
