Connie L. Hill, 73, died on Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.?She was born on April 23, 1939, in Newton to Henry and Lillian (Janhke) Hill Sr. Connie was a 1957 graduate of Newton High School.?Connie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Hehr Glass, McDonald’s, Braums and Wal-Mart, all in Newton. She made many friends over the years through her work.?Connie was a proud American and patriotic person. She often could be seen carrying and waving a flag on the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and other holidays. Connie was known as a good friend to many, and she enjoyed visiting and keeping up with her friends even as they moved to care homes. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the company of her pets, especially her dogs.?She is survived by her brothers, Jay Hill of Wichita, Jim Hill of Penrose, Colo., and Jerry Hill of Newton; and sisters, Arbutus Ann Goldsberry of Beloit, Bonnie Wagner of Topeka and Peggy Enns of Texarkana, Texas. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.?Connie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Hill Jr.; and one sister, Doris Jean Hill.?Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2012), and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., both at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.?The graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, with Chaplain Roger Megli presiding.?In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Caring Hands Humane Society, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, or the Newton Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund, all in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
