Bethel College head tennis coach Lonnie Isaac announced three signings early this week. Two are from Newton High School and one is a transfer student from Barton County Community College.?Keenan Zielke of Newton High School was a 2012 class 5A state qualifier and placed sixth at the regional tournament. He was a three-year letter winner for the Railers.?In the classroom he was a four-year academic letter winner and served as the vice president for the Rotary Interact Club.?“We are excited that Keenan has chosen Bethel to continue his college career,” Isaac said. “Keenan will be a great addition to the Bethel campus and we look forward to watching him develop as a student-athlete at Bethel.”?Brooks Taylor graduated from Newton High School this past May.?Brooks recorded a 17-13 record his junior year and improved that to 29-10 this past season. He finished fourth place at state his junior year and seventh place his senior year. Brooks helped to lead Newton to the AVCTL-Div I League title this past season. To finish off his career, Newton was state runner-up in class 5A.?“I’m really excited to be a part of the Bethel College tennis team and I’m looking forward to getting to meet the people associated with the program,” Taylor said. “I want to say thanks to Coach Isaac and Gaeddert for the opportunity to be a part of their program.”?“We are excited that Brooks has chosen Bethel to continue his college career.,” Isaac said. “Brooks is a strong doubles player who will provide depth to our lineup. I look forward to watching his game grow.”?Logan Palenske played at the No. 1 singles and doubles position for Barton this past season.?At Abilene High School, Palenske was the 2009 state 4A doubles champion and finished fifth in the singles draw in 2008.?“Adding Logan to our roster will add a tremendous amount of depth to our singles and doubles lineup,” Isaac commented. “Logan has tremendous leadership skills that will be valuable to our program both on and off the court.”
