Alvin Glenn Homewood, 83, retired crane operator for Russell Ralph and King Construction, died on Tuesday (July 24, 2012) at his residence.
He was born on April 28, 1929, in Luray to Frank and Anna (Reed) Homewood.
He was a Halstead resident for 52 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Halstead.
On May 22, 1949, he married Ada Lorraine Seirer in Lucas, and she died on March 24, 2007.
Survivors include sons, Bob (Michelle) Homewood of Howe, Ind., Tom Homewood of Sedgwick, and Dan (Cathy) Homewood of Wichita; daughters, Terri (Don) McCall of Davenport, Okla., Nancy (Doyle) Franzen of Goessel, and Debbie (David) Portlock of Halstead; brother, Gerald Homewood of Phoenix; stepmother, Melba Homewood of Phoenix; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Homewood; brothers, Wendell and Earl Homewood; and a sister, Gloria Amen.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday (July 27, 2012) at Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (July 28, 2012) at First United Methodist Church of Halstead, with the Rev. Jane Voelkle and the Rev. Bill Eichelberger officiating.
Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery of Halstead.
Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Hospice, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
