Funeral services for Dixie Ralthena Ruiz, age 59, of Abilene, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (July 28, 2012) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with Mr. John Norman III officiating. Ms. Ruiz passed away on Sunday (July 22, 2012) at her home in Abilene.


Funeral services for Dixie Ralthena Ruiz, age 59, of Abilene, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (July 28, 2012) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with Mr. John Norman III officiating. Ms. Ruiz passed away on Sunday (July 22, 2012) at her home in Abilene.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1952, in Dodge City, the daughter of Ralph M. and Evelyn V. (Conner) Woods. She graduated from Dodge City High School and received her associates degree as an X-Ray technician from Hutchinson Community College.
Dixie worked for some Wichita area hospitals and then worked for the Abilene Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed gardening, watching QVC and HSN along with spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, traveling to California and her field service.
Dixie is survived by her son, Rafi and his wife, Gina Holguin of Newton; daughters, Maria Yolanda Mackey of Abilene, and Sara Linda-Mae Ruiz of San Diego; brothers, Mac Woods of Dodge City, and C.B. Woods of Dodge City; sister, Linda Mendoza of Newton; grandchildren, Makaihlah N. Gibb, Macario S. Holguln, Carlos E. Holguin, Marcos J. Holguin, Karisma M. Mackey, Faun R. Mackey and Naima Amari-Dixie Ruiz; and her fiancé, Ralph Martin of Salina.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Yolanda Woods, and Elizabeth Harrod.
Cremation is planned. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home of Abilene.
