  • Wild wins playoff game over Wranglers

  • James Chandler hit a 52-yard field goal with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Wichita Wild to a 43-40 win over the Allen Wranglers Monday night in the Indoor Football League Intense Conference semifinals at the Allen Events Center.

  • James Chandler hit a 52-yard field goal with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Wichita Wild to a 43-40 win over the Allen Wranglers Monday night in the Indoor Football League Intense Conference semifinals at the Allen Events Center.

    Allen tied the game 40-40 when David Knighton hit a four-yard touchdown pass to Luke McCardle with 58 seconds remaining in regulation and Maurice Avery hit a two-point conversion pass to McCardle.

    Knighton hit 13 of 27 passes for 171 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. The final pickoff came from Wichita’s Kendrick Harper in the end zone with four seconds remaining in regulation.

    Wichita’s Marcus Jackson hit 13 of 18 passes for 129 yards with no interceptions and a touchdown. Jackson also rushed for 50 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

    Tywon Hubbard rushed 21 times for 129 yards and a touchdown. Callahan Bright had six carries for 10 yards and two touchdowns. Tim Simmons caught nine passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

    Allen’s Ramonce Taylor had five catches for 92 yards and and a score.

    Chandler went three for three in field goal kicking. Chandler also hit four of five PAT kicks.

    The game was the fifth meeting between the the two teams. Wichita has won three of them.

    Wichita faces the Tri-Cities Fever at 9:05 p.m. Friday at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash. Tri-Cities opened the playoffs with a 52-42 win over the Colorado Ice.

    Wichita and Tri-Cities have not met this season.

    MOSS TAKES HONORS — Wichita Wild defensive lineman Matt Moss was named the IFL co-defensive player of the year. Moss recorded 15 sacks, 29 total tackles and four forced fumbles.
