Railers tie with SouthSALINA — The Newton High School girls’ soccer team tied Salina South 1-1 Thursday in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I play at Salina Stadium.Newton scored early in the second half on a goal by Katlyn Zinn. South equalized in the 78th minute on a goal by Evie Fagan.Newton was outshot 19-2. Newton goalkeeper Kelsi Langley had 16 saves. South’s Jessica Pancoast had one save.South is 3-6-2, 0-3-1 in AV-CTL I play. Newton is 2-8-2, 1-3-1 in AV-CTL I play. Game two is 5:05 p.m. Sunday at Intrust Bank Arena.Game three is 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fort Wayne. Game four is 8:15 p.m. May 5 in Fort Wayne.Dates for games five through seven have not been set.Wichita is in its fourth finals, winning in 1994 and 1995.
