The Newton High School girls’ swimming team claimed a win Friday at the El Dorado Invitational.

Newton scored 320 points, followed by El Dorado at 230 and Coffeyville at 217. There were 11 teams in competition. Newton entries won eight of 12 events

The 200-yard medley relay team of Sara Slifer, Hana Robinson, Betti Fuhr and Taegan Curtis won in 2:05.05. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sarah Schmidt, Christina Entz, Slifer and Fuhr won in 1:47.03. the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Schmidt, Robinson, Rebecca Schrag and Entz won in 4:05.63.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Schmidt won in 2:05.06, followed by Entz in second in 2:07.07. Schmidt won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.60.

Fuhr won the 100-yard butterfly in 59.94, followed by Slifer in third in 1:06.66. Fuhr won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.53.

Entz won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.21.

Robinson took second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:35.15. Erin Doerksen took second in diving with a score of 145.25.

Rebecca Schrag took third in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:48.25.

Newton competes at 4 p.m. today at the Campus Invitational, followed by the Great Bend Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday.
