The Newton Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the following ribbon cuttings in 2011. Some were for new businesses, and others were for expansion projects for existing businesses.

Comfort Inn and Suites, 1205 E. First St. Quilt shop “Studio Q,” 601 1/2 N. Main St. Goody’s, 601 S.E. 36th St., Suite 100. Stutzmans Greenhouse, 316 N. Main St. Horizon Milling, 300 E. Broadway. The ribbon cutting was for a new packing facility. Dr. Terry Davidson’s Dental Office, 606 N. Main St., Suite 102. Imaginary Designs, 1011 S. Washington Road, in the Cedar Village Shopping Center.   Norm’s Coffee Bar, 125 W. Sixth St. Newton Christian Church, 210 Southport Drive. The ribbon cutting was for the new addition to the church. Kansas Christian Home, 1035 S.E. Third St. The ribbon cutting was for the home’s expansion project. Huddle House restaurant, 1410 E. Broadway Court. The Leaf Tea Lounge, 605 N. Main St. The Twisted Cow, 1400 S. Kansas Ave. Baier Family Optometry, 515 N. Main St. United Methodist Youthville, 900 W. Broadway in Newton. The ribbon cutting was for their new playground. The Meridian Center, 1420 E. Broadway Court. Newton Antique Mall, 517 N. Main St. Treasured Fabric and More, 104 E. Broadway. Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 1430 E. Broadway Court. Health Ministries Clinic, Community Health Center, 209 S. Pine in Newton. The clinic was celebrating a remodeled registration area and a new sign at the clinic. Newton Christian High School, 208 N. Meridian. Good Shepherd Hospice, 500 N. Main St., Suite 213. The ribbon cutting was to celebrate the organization’s new location. Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors, Old Mill Plaza, Suite 106. Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra office, Towne Center Building, 120 W. Sixth St., Suite 120. Computer DoctoRx, 106 W. Broadway. Farm Bureau Financial Services — Jason High, 516 N. Main St.
