The Bethel College women’s tennis team took another step towards a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference title with a 9-0 win over Bethany Thursday in Lindsborg.

The Thresher women won all but nine games in 18 sets of singles play. The Threshers dropped just four games in doubles play.

The Bethel men fell to Bethany, ranked 14th in the NAIA, 8-1. The doubles team of Clinton Chlumsky and Jesse Voth-Gaeddert claimed the sole win for the Threshers, scoring an 8-4 win at first doubles.

The Bethel men fall to 3-11, 2-3 in KCAC play. The Bethel women are 12-5, 5-0 in KCAC play.

Bethel hosts Tabor at 3 p.m. Monday. A win for the BC women gives the Threshers the regular-season title outright, along with the top seed in the KCAC post-season tourney. A Bethel loss could mean a three-way tie with Tabor and Kansas Wesleyan.

The Bethel men need a win over Tabor to clinch a berth in the post-season tournament. Otherwise the Threshers fall into a three-way tie with Southwestern and Friends for the fourth and final spot.
