The Olathe Northwest Ravens forced 29 turnovers to claim a 64-44 win over Rose Hill Thursday in the first round of the 36th Newton Invitational.

Northwest, 9-1, plays Andover Central in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. today. Rose Hill, 4-7, meets Garden City in the consolation semifinals at 3 p.m. today.

Jaylah Jackson led Northwest with 18 points, followed by Kelsey Brooks with 15, Vashti Neal with 10 and Michaela Crall with 10.

Kayla Justice scored 15 points for Rose Hill.

Northwest jumped to an 11-0 lead in the first 3 1/2 minutes of play. Rose Hill got back in it with an 8-1 run of its own. Northwest led by three at the end of the period, 16-13.

Northwest opened the second quarter with an 11-1 run. The Ravens led 32-18 at the half. The Ravens were 13 of 26 from the field in the first half. Rose Hill was seven of 16.

Northwest put things in hand with a 14-2 run to start the third quarter. Rose Hill scored the last two baskets of the period.
