As adults play a game of golf this weekend, they will be helping kids at Newton Christian Bible School play at recess.
Saturday, Fox Ridge will host a golf tournament benefitting the private school — funds raised will help the school update and refurbish the playground.
“Since we charge tuition, we don’t have extra funds for that,” said principal Don Kelton. “The golf tournament is one of the ways we can do that.”
The kids will be in on the fund-raising efforts as well — they will get pledges for a “Walk-a-thon” at Fox Ridge. The golfers will get started at 9 a.m, the walkers at 10 a.m. Saturday.
“We are trying to encourage students who are walking,” Kelton said. “The last couple years the students have brought in more money than the golfers have.  One of the goals is to teach the kids to work together as a team and doing that, you can accomplish more.”
