Railer spikers sweep at Hutch

HUTCHINSON — The Newton High School volleyball team added two more wins Tuesday, sweeping an Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I triangular at Hutchinson.

Newton edged Derby in three sets 28-30, 25-15, 25-20. Newton then downed Hutchinson 25-10, 25-14.

“We had a slow start with early troubles with passing, hitting and defense,” Newton coach Jamie Dibbens said, “possibly as (a) result from last weekend’s home tournament. Derby is a quality team that could have taken us by suprise. In the Hutch match, we seemed to find ourselves back on track and having fun.”

The Railers improve to 24-1 overall, 8-0 in AV-CTL I play. Newton plays Tuesday at Maize with Derby.
