Lahla Ursula Selzer, 99, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 24, 2011) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.


Lahla Ursula Selzer, 99, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 24, 2011) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1912, in Protection, the daughter of S. Enos and Ursula Miller. She was a piano teacher. On Dec. 23, 1933, she married Truman Selzer in Jet, Okla. He passed away on July 23, 1995.
She was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church. Lahla also was involved with the Mennonite Women’s Service Auxiliary and the Library Board in Protection, and she was a member of the Kansas Piano Teachers League.
She is survived by daughter, Priscilla (Erv) Boschmann of Indianapolis; sons, Wendell (Judy) of Kansas City, Mo., David of Protection, and Harvey (Dana) of Broomfield, Colo.; sister-in-laws, Berta Miller of Hesston and Mary Ann Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hesston Mennonite Church. Pastors Cheryl Hershberger and John Murray will officiate. Graveside services will be at noon Saturday at Protection Mennonite Cemetery.
