Continuing street work at the Kansas Logistics Park will disrupt Spencer Road traffic this week.

On Monday the contractor, Lafarge North America, began milling and crack repair on Spencer between Southeast 12th and Southeast 36th Streets, carrying two-way traffic with a pilot car. Milling will continue today on Southeast 36th Street from Spencer to Interstate 135.

On Wednesday, Lafarge will lay the base course for a new northbound right-turn lane on Spencer at Southeast 12th Street. Traffic will be diverted to the eastern half of the intersection.

Beginning Thursday, Spencer will be closed to traffic for about three weeks for construction of new intersections. Two-way traffic will be carried on Southeast 36th with temporary pavement. Traffic can detour west to Kansas or east to Hillside.

Hillside is expected to open to traffic on Oct. 4.

The street improvements are funded in part by a $2.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.
