Why you should go
Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Mary’s Catholic churches in Newton are hosting a family festival today through Sunday. The event will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 421 S. Ash St. Festival events include a straw bale maze, cake walk, face painting and horseshoes.
Highlights from the festival
Friday: There will be a garage sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; carnival games from 5 to 8 p.m.; horseshoe tournament at 6 p.m.; movie “The Song of Bernadette” at 7 p.m.; and Mexican dance with DJ at 7 p.m.
Saturday: Soccer tournament at 8 a.m.; K-9 police unit from 9 to 11 a.m.; Matachines Dancers at 2 p.m.; multicultural Mass at 5 p.m.; and live music with the  Big Buckle Band at 7 p.m.
Sunday: “Bounce House” moonwalk from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; carnival games from noon to 5 p.m.; races and games from 1 to 4 p.m.; and bilingual bingo at 2:30 p.m.

If you go
when The event starts at 7 a.m. Friday with a garage sale and concludes with a raffle drawing at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Parking Those attending the activities can park along the church property on the 400 block of South Ash and the 400 block of Southwest Sixth. Additional parking will be available on the northwest corner of the church property, in the parking lot of the old softball diamond. The entrance gate will be on Southwest Fourth.
