Warriors edge Moundridge

MOUNDRIDGE — The Marion Warriors edged Moundridge 21-20 Friday night in Heart of America League play in Marion.

Marion improves to 4-0, 3-0 in HOAL play. Moundridge falls to 1-3 overall and in the league.

Moundridge scored on a 47-yard Trey Unrau run with 1:12 remaining in regulation to get within a point. The Wildcats tried for the two-point conversion, but Marion stopped Unrau short of the goalline to preserve the win.

Marion’s Cole Lewman rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

Unrau rushed for 113 yards and had 61 yards receiving with a touchdown. Moundridge’s Daniel Ratzlaff added 106 yards rushing. Alex Otte passed for 73 yards and a touchdown and rushed for a score.

Marion travels to Sedgwick Friday in a battle of HOAL unbeatens. Moundridge opens district play at Chase County.

Sedgwick blanks Ell-Saline Cards

BROOKVILLE — The Sedgwick Cardinals won the “battle of the birds” Friday night in Heart of America League play, stopping the Ell-Saline Cardinals 27-0 in Brookville.

Sedgwick improves to 4-0, 3-0 in HOAL play. Ell-Saline falls to 1-3 overall and in the league.

Sedgwick hosts Marion Friday in a key league contest.
