7 p.m. — Take Off Pounds Sensibly Kan. No. 162, Kidron Bethel Community Room, 3001 Ivy Drive in North Newton. Men, women and children are welcome.

6 p.m. — Newton chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Temple, 106 E. Broadway. A covered dish supper will be at 6 p.m. with a guest speaker Mike Petijean. He will speak on Social Security. The public is invited to attend. At 7:30 p.m., the chapter will have its regular meeting. Refreshments will be served after the meeting by Pat and Tim Timmons. Susan Hrovat is worthy matron, and Melvin Luttrell is worthy patron.
