Bethel College Mennonite Church, 2600 College Ave., North Newton, is continuing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its 22 rank Moeller pipe organ with a recital at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 7.


Bethel College Mennonite Church, 2600 College Ave., North Newton, is continuing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its 22 rank Moeller pipe organ with a recital at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 7.
Christopher Shaw, organist at Bethel College Mennonite Church and active performer and accompanist in the Wichita metro area, will perform solo organ works by J.S. Bach, Couperin, Bruhns, Alain and Vierne.
He also conducts choirs at Moundridge High School and Bethel’s children’s choir. He is pursuing a master’s degree at Wichita State University.
Bethel College instructor of Theater, Megan Upton-Tyner, will join Shaw in performing “A Sweet for Mother Goose,” a piece for narrator and organ by George Akerley.
The performance will feature a live video of the organist’s hands during the recital.
A free-will offering will be received to cover expenses and to ensure the future of the organ.
A reception will follow.
