Thomas Eugene Foley Sr., 63, passed away on Tuesday (July 26, 2011) at home in rural Hesston.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of William Marvin and Effie Matilda (Moss) Foley. Tom served in the U.S. Navy and was an auto mechanic for 40-plus years. In Tom’s final days, even though his health was failing him, he renewed relationships with his family and renewed his relationship with the Lord.

He is survived by two sons, Tom Foley Jr. (Misty) of Newton and Bill Foley (Amanda) of rural Goessel; two daughters, Shelly Edgar (Tim) and Terri Foley, both of Barnett, Mo.; a brother, Mike Foley of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mary Rand of Sacramento, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great- grandchild on the way; and ex-wife Rita Eason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Tim Foley; a grandson, Josh Foley; a granddaughter, Meagan Tate; two brothers, John and Donald Foley; and a sister, Virginia Pole.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hesston United Methodist Church, 606 N. Ridge Road in Hesston. A private family burial will take place at a later time. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the Petersen Funeral Home in Newton
